Success was incorporated as a village on October 25, 1912, and it kept that village status for the next 110 years. It lies in the Rural Municipality of Riverside No. 168, in Census Division No. 8.
The community sits along the Great Sandhills Railway line and Highway 32. The Success Power Station, operated by SaskPower, is located near the community.
On July 15, 2022, Success restructured. It gave up its village status and became a special service area under the jurisdiction of the RM of Riverside No. 168. Bridget Moran is among the notable people connected with Success.
